Salman Khan’s new cause

Actor Salman Khan, who has rooted for his philanthropic foundation in 10 Ka Dum, is expected to do the same as the new host of the hit TV reality show Bigg Boss on Colors. Word of mouth is that Salman is also exploring possibilities how he can reach more needy people with his organisation. Salman, who is also launching merchandise for the charity, is even looking at exploring feature films to spread the word around.

Salman confirms to DNA, “It is true that I’m exploring how to go about it but it’s not something that I would want to discuss and reveal right now. In Bigg Boss my role is to ease the pressure of the contestants.”

Salman’s merchandise line includes watches, shirts, cuff-links and many other products. “There are lots of avenues that I’m exploring. It is a very affordable line as I’m looking at involving as many people possible to join me in my cause. God has created everyone equal and so we should all get the same education and opportunities,” he says.

Salman adds, “Because someone is underprivileged doesn’t mean that person has lost the right to education or happiness. I, as an individual, can only spend a certain amount on myself and if everyone thinks of giving the excess to help others, we can save many lives,” he says.

Meanwhile, sources say that the TV channel is renegotiating Salman’s contract with him to have him back on 10 Ka Dum. “I had a great stint but my contract has expired. If the channel wants me, I’m more than willing to do it again. I’m doing this now and Amitabh Bachchan is on that channel to host his show, developments will take some time to happen. But I’m very keen and hopeful,” he says.

SRK entertained by news

Shah Rukh Khan has been out of country for over a month. And yet he continues to make news in Indian dailies. And this never fails to amuse the actor.

“Sometimes I read many strange news about myself that I don’t realise its about me till I see my pictures with the article,” he quips.

The actor is currently shooting for Ra.One in London and also will be shooting a commercial ad with wife Gauri Khan – the first time the two are to do something like this.

Recently, news of him losing interest in his film and a rift in his friendship with Karan Johar has been doing its rounds . But it looks like they do more good than harm by tickling the actor's funny bone during his stay in London.

Being beautiful can kill your Job Chances

While being beautiful may have opened a lot of doors for you, getting a job may not be as easy, according to a new study.

A new University of Colorado Denver Business School study reveals that attractive women face discrimination when it comes to landing certain kinds of jobs.

For titles like manager of research and development, director of finance, mechanical engineer and construction supervisor, attractive women are considered ‘too masculine’.

“In every other kind of job, attractive women were preferred. This wasn’t the case with men which shows that there is still a double standard when it comes to gender,” said Stefanie Johnson.

The study showed that in job categories like director of security, hardware salesperson, prison guard and tow truck driver, attractive women were overlooked.

However, attractive people do tend to score when it comes to salaries, performance evaluations and college admissions.

“In jobs involving face-to-face client contact, such as sales, more physically attractive applicants could conceivably perform better than those who are less attractive,” said Johnson.

The results indicate that attractiveness was more beneficial for women applying for feminine sex-typed jobs than masculine sex-typed jobs.

The authors said that managers have to rely more on information from the individual rather than on stereotypes about physical appearance.

The study is released in the May/June Journal of Social Psychology.
